I received this book as part of the University of Northern Iowa’s Literacy Initiative.

Students enjoyed this story and the lesson that we all matter. While reading this book, I would pause and ask, “Do you matter? Does person a matter? Does person b matter? That’s right, we matter. Stand up if you matter!”

After reading, students used shaving cream and liquid watercolor to create a marbled painting. Then, they cut shapes with their marbled painting and I assembled into a heart for our classroom bulletin. Students also traced their hand and added details to their hand. I love how each unique hand holds a unique part of our classroom heart. 💜
